Important Things to Know

About My Positions

I think every candidate has what is best for the district in their heart—at least I hope that is true. But sometimes people have different ideas on how to get to the same destination. I don’t think there is any shortage of strategy-think on the board that has gotten us to this point. I think my approach might just be a key to opening new avenues of success for Saline Area Schools.

School Safety

With 20 years’ experience in community safety, community supervision, and criminal justice, I have personally monitored more than 40,000 individuals under supervision in our communities. I know what it takes to keep our community safe, and in turn, our schools safe. I have the expertise to work with our communities partners to make Saline Area Schools the benchmark for safe and inviting learning environments.

  • Know our neighbors, and who is in the community—it’s surprising
  • Train, be ready, and train some more of all contingencies
  • Have effective tools in each classroom to increase safety

  • Zero tolerance for bullying—I see what they grow up to be

Smart Spending

I have negotiated government contracts all the way to the state level. I have experience with complex budgets that involve both public and private funding. Our schools have the opportunity for exciting growth as a result of our bond and if budgeted accordingly, should last well beyond the projected life.

  • Strategically term contracts for the best pricing and overall cost
  • Focus on local—incentivize vendors that are part of our community

  • Competition breeds success—just like in our school sports
  • Shift dollars to reward our teachers and make our staff whole

Supporting Staff

Our teachers are the cornerstone of our classrooms. With a dwindling student population, we need to focus on the staff we need. I love the phrase “the right person, in the right seat, on the right bus.” That focus is what we need right now. And when we find those people, we need to retain them so that they are valuable and loyal to Saline.

  • Make Saline Schools “The District To Be Inspiring”
  • Let teachers teach and empower them to be creative
  • Have teachers’ backs—focus on what they do right and well

  • Keep teachers safe—after all, they keep our kids safe
